Dot Songs

Dot Songs for Students (example)

The "dot song" notation allows even beginning students to easily understand how to create sophisticated sounds at the piano. They provide the entry point into understanding the Sudnow Method.

The following tunes from the Hal Leonard Fakebook, described in the course, are available in dot song notations. They're collected into three Dotbooks, of ten tunes each.

These collections are included with the optional Members Club enrollment and are also available as separate purchases in the Sudnow Store.

In the Members Club (an entirely optional part of The Method) you'll find links to the PDF files of these songbooks, and to mp3 sound files, where each tune is played and aspects of its performance are discussed.

In addition, you'll find hour long discussions each of: Ain't Misbehavin, All the Things You Are, Darn that Dream, I Could Write a Book, My Foolish Heart, and Young and Foolish. These great standards provide wonderful occasions for exploring all sorts of finer details about song presentation.
