Here are two books that may be of interest to Sudnow students:
1) “The Listening Book: Discovering your own music”, by WA Mathieu. loaded with tips, tricks, inspiration and exercises that will help you get in touch with your musical self, as listener, musician and composer. Suitable for students at all levels.
2) “Jerry Coker’s Jazz Keyboard:For pianists and non-pianists (class or individual study”. A different approach to blues, voicing, accompaniment, modes, vamps and related aspects of jazz playing. Designed for the beginner, but builds in a few months to intermediate level topics such as modal jazz, rootless II-V-I progressions, etc. Should help the student get a grasp of keyboard notation.
